I’m a bit of an outlier in the mental health community. What makes me unique is that I was diagnosed professionally with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) at the age 16. I remember feeling completely overwhelmed with this new information that explained everything that was going on. Unfortunately the information I was provided wasn’t the best and I found myself asking more questions than getting answers. In a poor life decision I turned to google and learned of the horrible stigma surrounding not only BPD but other mental illnesses as well. What I read portrayed people like me as insatiable attention seeking monsters that ruined every relationship they could. I felt less than human, unworthy to interact with others. It took me a while to come around to my diagnosis and learn that what I had read was not true, that I could be loving and caring despite my mental illness. That is why I created my tumblr blog, mental-ch-illness. I wanted to provide a mental illness friendly environment for those seeking answers in a dark time in their life. Thank you for reading!

  1. Yup, that’s why I run a youtube channel called ‘Bipolarline’. For Borderlines and Bipolars. I give encouragement and advice to whomever is interested. Talking from, or AS a bipolar AND borderline person, I identify with these illnesses and understand how they manifest and what to do. It’s taken me LONG time and a lot of work to get to where I am, but thankfully, the illness no longer controls me, rather I control IT. xx
